Welcome to the official website of the WKGB!
The Welsh Karate Governing Body Ltd (originally the Welsh Karate Federation) was established in 1980 with a total membership of 6 associations.
It now has 37 autonomous member associations with a membership in excess of 6000 members.
The WKGB Ltd is the only Sports Council for Wales recognised National Governing Body for Karate in Wales. Through its membership of the European Karate Federation the WKGB sends Welsh Squads to compete in the annual EKF Junior and Senior Championships.
As a member of the British Karate Federation the WKGB Ltd also competes in the WKF ( World Karate Federation) championships as recognised by the IOC (International Olympic Committee)
Note: The WKF & EKF are the only official karate organisations recognised by the I.O.C.(International Olympic Organisation)
The Welsh Karate Governing Body Ltd is a Karate specific organisation and does not represent any other Martial Arts - subsequently licenses cannot be issued. It is the responsibility of Member Associations to observe and implement this Directive.

WKGB Anti-Doping Policy Reminder
The WKGB holds strongly to the Drug Free Sport policy and takes the use of banned substances very seriously. Please see the World Anti-Doping Ageny link for more information on accepted and banned substances. click here for more on the rules.Robbie Scott for the Great Britain TeamCongratulations to Robbie Scott on his recent selection for the Great Britain Team in a friendly match against Montenegro. The event is part of the celebrations of the Montenegro Governing Body and will take place on Saturday March 6th 2010 in Podgorica. Robbie will fight as part of the Senior Male Team including; The Senior Female Team includes; Details of the event are scarce and travel arrangements have been a little hurried and last minute. WKGB Chief Referee Chico Mbakwe will be travelling out as a BKF representative World Referee. National Coach Paul Scott will also be there to assist Gerry Fleming (Scotland) who has been allocated the position of GB Coach. More details will be added as they become available. The passing of a legend of Welsh KarateIt is with great sadness that the WKGB Ltd announce the passing of a legend of Welsh Karate - Shihan Ritchie Noblett 8th Dan - who died at the weekend.Ritchie will be sadly missed by all who knew him, and he will be totally irreplaceable in the history of Karate in Wales.
