British Karate Federation Squad Training
BKF Squad Training
For the first time since 1996, a BKF Squad Training session was made available to the Home Countries. The event took place at the SENI Exhibition, Excel, Docklands, London on Saturday 29th May 2010. The sessions were conducted by BKF/EKF Coach Wayne Otto (OBE), with Paul Scott (WKGB Coach) assisting.
Its purpose was integration of training methods and the opportunity to train with a larger Squad of experienced competitors.
27 Eligible Welsh Squad Members were selected to attend this event, but unfortunately, only 17 were able to make the trip. However, this still gave a good impression of the Welsh Squad and Wayne Otto (OBE) was delighted with our attendance.
The Squads were split into Male & Female and offered 2 sessions each. Wayne Otto took the first of the Male & Female sessions and following the warm up on the second, I was
allocated the remainder of both. Both Coaches put the Squad through their paces and the end result was an enjoyable day, with all members gathering that little bit more by the end of it.
I felt the relationship between the Squads and Coaches was forged stronger and believe this approach can only assist the future of British Karate. As National Coach, I was proud of our athletes ability and hope they all enjoyed the experience.

Congratulations to WKGB Referee Mair Phillips (WHKK), on her recent qualification as European Judge B, at the European Regional Championships in Poland 29th & 30th May 2010.
This is yet another accolade to the WKGB Refereeing Platform, as it consistently continues to show itself, as a major force on the European & World stage.
Mair is currently the only Welsh female representative to hold this qualification.
The WKGB wish her “Good Luck” on her journey to World Karate Federation Referee status.
