Child Protection
The WKGB Child Protection Policy has been formulated in conjunction with the CPSU/NSPCC. The Policy is available as a download and is an integral module of the WKGB Coach Award.
The WKGB Child Protection Department is currently headed by Child Protection Officer Paul Scott, who deals with all matters relating to Child Protection. His experience in these matters is considerable and involves working closely with the Statutory Bodies.
All Member Associations of the WKGB are required to have appointed persons acting as Child Welfare Officers, trained by WKGB, SCUK, NSPCC, to enable a personal point of contact within their organisations. CWO's will not personally be required to deal with complex matters, but to be the initial "Point of Contact" and understand the protocol required. They will need to have an understanding of the stages, courses of action and points of referral to the WKGB CPO or Statutory Bodies
All aspects of Child Protection are conducted professionally and in confidence.
Child Protection issues are often complex matters and should not be handled by inexperienced or unqualified persons. The role of Child Welfare Officer within a Club or Association is a volunteer position, but will still require a set standard of qualification as a Job Requirement, that must be adhered to. Participation in ongoing CPD is also a pre-requisite.
Child Welfare Officer Requirements:
WKGB Member & Licence Holder.
CRB Disclosure (Enhanced).
SCUK Safeguarding & Protecting Children Course.
